Worse than the Friend Zone
Terry is your typical high-strung, out-of-work and out gay NYC actor, but with roommate problems. Rather, he has a problem with his roommate's current boyfriend, Buck -- he has a huge crush on Buck, and it's killing him to watch Buck and Alex live out their happy relationship. The fact that Alex has another boyfriend -- Matt, currently on the road with a touring company -- exacerbates Terry's jealousy and anguish, and that this is all happening so close to Christmas is just the icing on the cake. Buddy Thomas' The Crumple Zone is the gay, romantic, love-triangle comedy for all seasons -- even early July in St. Louis. Citilites Theatre presents The Crumple Zone at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday (July 7 through 24) at the Gaslight Theater (358 North Boyle Avenue; 314-773-1879 or www.citilitestheatre.com). Tickets are $15 to $20.
