To live with a companion animal is to be constantly surrounded by enthusiasm, sweet mischief, unconditional love and giant clumps of fur. These furballs drift, tumbleweed-like, across hardwood floors and down carpeted staircases. They sneak into corners and attach themselves to sweaters. Sometimes, they grow so formidable that you almost feel you should name them. If this scenario sounds familiar, you and your four-legged bestie will love Fur Elise, the new exhibit at White Flag Projects (4568 Manchester Avenue; 314-531-3442 or www.whiteflagprojects.org). This whimsical and charming show features items crafted from fur-brushings. (Trust us, when the weather gets this hot, there's plenty of material available.) Companion animals and their people are invited to today's opening reception, which runs from 1 to 3 p.m. Fur Elise remains on display through Monday, August 22, and the gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday. Admission to the gallery and to the opening reception is free.
Wednesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Aug. 13. Continues through Aug. 22, 2011
