Jenna Bauer was an active figure in the St. Louis art scene in the late '90s and early oughts, exhibiting regularly and opening what's now known as the St. Louis City Open Studio and Gallery. Bauer left for the MFA art program at New York's Hunter College, but returns for a one weekend show of work new and old. Jenna Bauer: New Paintings, Drawings and Archived Flat Files 1997 to 2011 primarily features paintings made during her time in New York, but Bauer's sketchbooks and drawings from her flat files will also be on display. Best of all, Bauer herself will be in town for the opening reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, August 19, at Hoffman LaChance Contemporary (2713 Sutton Boulevard, Maplewood; www.hoffmanlachancefineart.com), so friends old and new will have a chance to catch up with her. The exhibit is also open from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21. Admission is free.
