Park Life

What's better than a performance by the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra? A free performance by the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. You can help yourself to a big picnic basket full of savory symphonic sounds at no charge tonight beginning at 7 p.m. when the SLSO presents its annual Free Forest Park Concert. Ward Stare will conduct our premier hometown band as it performs selections from composers as varied as Mikhail Glinka, Johann Strauss, Jr., Mahler, Beethoven, Liszt, Stravinsky and John Williams, among others. It's not every day you get music this good in a setting as lovely as our city’s biggest park at summer's sunset -- all gratis. The concert will be followed by a fireworks display in the Grand Basin at the foot of Art Hill in Forest Park. Call 314-534-1700 or visit www.stlsymphony.org for further details.
