Combining punk-tinged power pop with roots-twang porch hollers, Valdosta, Georgia's Ninja Gun is dedicated to pinning down hook-driven pop perfection. What if the Kinks were from the South? What if Big Star was more punk? These questions are answered when listening to Ninja Gun. After a couple full-lengths and a handful of seven-inches and singles, the band has hit its creative peak (so far, at least) with its new Roman Nose EP. The layered percussion and infectious hooks counterbalance singer Johnathan Coody's heady sociopolitical skepticism. Consider this group "a band's band." Highly regarded by many musicians, yet not fairly appreciated by enough music fans.

True Story: Ninja Gun tours in a retired church van, which has actually helped them skirt a few traffic tickets while out on the open road.
