More About

Even if abstract expressionism isn't your thing, German artist Anselm Kiefer's work still makes a mighty impression on you. Whether the Kiefer in question is a woodcut print or painting, his work is extraordinarily large scale. The size of something does not always make it impressive on its own; it is the force of his images that startle the senses and impart a sense of wonder. Kiefer's daring choices to again and again make known the atrocities of the Holocaust and his use of symbolism have earned him a high place in the art world. Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow is Sophie Fiennes' (yes, Ralph is her brother) intimate look at Kiefer and his work process. The Webster Film Series screens the documentary at 7:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday (September 16 through 18) at Moore Auditorium (470 East Lockwood Avenue; 314-968-7487 or www.webster.edu/filmseries). Admission is $5 to $6.
Sept. 16-18, 2011
