More About

Manhattan's Lower East Side was the musical center of the world in the mid-'70s, but the world at large didn't know it at the time. Iconic bands such as Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Talking Heads and Blondie were creating punk rock at CBGB's and the Mudd Club, but only a handful of people witnessed the moment of creation. Emily Armstrong and Pat Ivers were two of the few, and fortunately for later generations, they began video taping their favorite acts. Nightclubbing: Greatest Hits features the best performances and moments from the pair's archives, ca. 1975 to 1980. Witness rare footage of legends including Iggy Pop, John Cale and the Cramps, forgotten bands Ballistic Kisses and Strange Party, and cult favorites Pylon and Lounge Lizards. The Webster Film Series screens Nightclubbing: Greatest Hits at 7:30 p.m. in the Winifred Moore Auditorium (470 East Lockwood Avenue; 314-968-7487 or www.webster.edu/filmseries). Ivers and Armstrong will host a Q&A after the program. Admission is $5 to $6.
