Break out your roomiest pants: Taste of St. Louis is open for business. From Friday through Sunday (September 23 through 25), everybody who contributes to the local food culture comes together at Soldiers Memorial (Fourteenth and Chestnut streets; www.tastestl.com) to celebrate and share their love of a good meal. From Restaurant Row, where 45 local eateries of note will be selling their tastiest tidbits, to the Chef Battle Royale, which pits eight chefs in head-to-head cooking competitions, you'll experience the sizzle and the steak of meal time in St. Louis. You can also feed your soul (and wet your whistle) at the Art and Wine Walk, which pairs local artists selling their work with wine tastings (tickets required for sips). The Taste is open from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, but you'll want cash for Restaurant Row -- most items are in the $4 to $7 range, so plan accordingly.
