Get Blaked

William Blake was a visionary artist in every possible sense of the word. A poet consumed by matters of mystical and spiritual growth, a printmaker who devised new methods of engraving expressly for printing his highly personal works, and a designer who turned out books that combined text and image in innovative ways that continue to inspire artists today, almost 200 years after his death, Blake was a man ahead of his time. The Infernal Method: A Celebration of Symbol and Printmaking, is an exhibition of posters created by contemporary artists who look to Blake as a pioneer. Fine commercial artists and commercial fine artists such as Justin Kamerer, David V. D'Andrea and Travis Lawrence all have work in the show, which opens with a free public reception from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, September 30, at 2720 Cherokee Street (www.artdimensions.org). The show remains up through Monday, October 17, and the gallery is open on Saturday, or by appointment.
Fri., Sept. 30; Saturdays. Starts: Sept. 30. Continues through Oct. 17, 2011
