Artist Andrew Millner's works almost offer a blueprint of the trees, flowers and plants that inspire him. Often monochromatic, Millner's pieces show a detailed attention to leaf veins, flower petal patterns, and the tiny twigs and branches that support this foliage, ensuring the viewer that nothing is lost in color, and that much more is gained by the artist's close examination and choice of larger canvases (40 by 60 inches, for example). This fall, the William Shearburn Gallery (4735 McPherson Avenue; 314-367-8020 or www.shearburngallery.com) presents Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose, an exhibit of new paintings by Millner. The show opens with a reception on Friday, October 21, and runs through the Friday, December 23. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Oct. 21. Continues through Dec. 3, 2011
