More About

Once popularly viewed as a children's holiday, Halloween has become America's primary excuse for women to dress up like their father's worst nightmare. And that's all right, but it's not for everybody. Chance Operations' Howl-O-Ween Celebration offers those who don't want to dress like slutty nurses or sexy sea captains a place to party and fete their love of poets and poetry. The plan for this open mic poetry performance is for you to dress as your favorite poet or poetic character and then recite either "your" poem or the poem that inspired your get-up. It's still possible for those die-hards to sex it up a bit -- who hasn't daydreamed about a lascivious Edna St. Vincent Millay, or idled away an English class fantasizing about sexy Walt Whitman? Now's your chance to live the fantasy. The Howl-O-Ween Celebration takes place at 7:30 p.m. at Duff's (392 North Euclid Avenue), and admission is free.
