Time will tell if the Sheepdogs ends up being 2011's Cinderella story: Four creatures crawling out of the obscurity hovel this summer when they beat out fifteen unsigned acts to become the first no-name band on the cover of Rolling Stone. Thanks to the rock rag, the band now has a deal with Atlantic, was rented out to Project Runway as the hairy-dude equivalent of dress forms and is somehow being shoehorned into Garnier Fructis advertorials. Despite the Selena Gomezification of its rise, the Sheepdogs' down-home boogie rock is a welcome foray into the grooves hewn deep on the American psyche by the Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
