While the traditions of Christmas irritate some people, they seem to provide many more with an important sense of continuity and stability in a world that's changing faster and faster every single day. For St. Louisans, one of those bedrock bastions of Christmas tradition is the Christmas Candlelight Concert, performed every December within the confines of Powell Symphony Hall (718 North Grand Boulevard). This year is no exception as the Bach Society of Saint Louis stages its annual homage to both the season and the renowned composer. Soprano Mary Wilson and the St. Louis Archdiocesan Children's Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Horst Buchholz, lend their voices to the evergreen proceedings. The centerpiece of the festive event is the traditional candlelight procession; within a beautiful venue such as Powell, this is a visual and aural treat to be savored (hint to any recent transplants to our area!).
