Marvin Curry pioneered his own style of art, which he calls "blah art." Inspired by the bright colors and whimsy of the Pop Art movement, Curry works in a little nostalgia for childhood -- his own, and the more universal idea of "childhood experience" -- to create his vibrant paintings starring familiar characters (hello, Joker). Marvin Curry: Pop Wonderland, an exhibition of his recent works, is currently on display in Star Clipper's art gallery (6392 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-725-9110 or www.starclipper.com). Admission is free, and the gallery is open every day. Curry's work remains up through Sunday, January 15, 2012.
