John MacEnulty: Rumi's Wedding Night

8 p.m. Saturday, December 17. Ethical Society of St. Louis, 9001 Clayton Road, Ladue.

A rabbi, an imam and a reverend walk into a bar and...anybody heard this one? Thirty-year symphony vet and former conductor John MacEnulty puts on a yearly interfaith social that brings these religious leaders together in a values-based panel discussion, followed by an hourlong concert by MacEnulty, promoting unity and collaboration. MacEnulty turned to Native American flute and meditating on Rumi's poetry and Laozi's prose after he learned he had cancer. He's now cancer-free and focuses on the promotion of spiritual healing through music. Last year, this free event drew a standing-room-only crowd of 500.
