The gifts are unwrapped and the pine needles may have dried out, but if you aren't quite ready to let go of Christmas, load the family into the sleigh and jingle on over to the Wildey Theatre (252 North Main Street, Edwardsville, Illinois) this Thursday for a special screening of MGM’s sumptuous Technicolor musical, Meet Me In St. Louis. With the 1904 World's Fair looming, Judy Garland and her kin are distraught by their father's plan to move the family from dear old St. Louis to the hustle and bustle of New York City. While not a Christmas film per se, Judy introduced the seasonal standard "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" in a scene set on Christmas Eve, and the film is brimming with crowd-pleasing tunes such as "The Trolley Song," "The Boy Next Door" and its title track. They don't make 'em like this anymore, so Meet Me In St. Louis will play twice this evening, at 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 to $8. For more information, visit www.wildeytheatre.com.
