This group plays like it worships at the altar of Sonic Youth amid a pile of broken '90s Dischord records. Comparisons aside, Shoppers is a fresh angle on noise-rock, and it sports enough girth to make any hardcore band feel a little self-conscious. The drums are hammered on with deliberate force, and the rhythms vary between rock and gritty punk. German restaurant-turned-Mexican watering hole El Leñador provides a dimly lit, atmospheric venue.
