Every platter comes with a couple of Boodles' fried biscuits, dense, doughy and delicious. Eat one with your meal and then drizzle honey from the bottle on your table on the other for dessert.

A boodle, if you're wondering, is a gathering of people. And I can almost see those biscuits alone developing a cult following, drawing enough of a crowd to allow Boodles to live up to its name. That'd bring a welcome infusion of life to ol' Tomb Town.

I think this might be the second or third review I've read recently that described a sauce as "sweet but not cloyingly so." (I paraphrase.) How about a thesaurus for the food critics?

Tried it once. Smoked meats were mediocre. Pulled pork had way too much fat and gristle. Smoked chicken just fair. Biscuits were more like a greasy lead weight than a light and crisp addition to dinner. Portions small and overpriced. With so many other better smoked meat restaurants available, why waste time and money. Was really disappointed because a good Q joint was a welcome addition to the bar food scene in Affton.

Boodles has been a huge welcome to the Affton area. I love bbq, and theirs has got to be at the top of the list in the St. Louis area. I've had all of their offerings. The baby back ribs are outstanding. The pulled pork best around. Brisket is full of flavor. Chicken I can go either way. The turkey is a SUPRISINGLY excellent. The sides are great. Ian, you're way off on the picnic potatoes, I could live off of them. The cole slaw and potato salad are sooooo good. The string beans are ok. The fried biscuits are a bit of a sin. The good news is, I no longer need to head to the city for the best bbq in St. Louis. I love the fact that St. Louis finally offers an assortment of really good bbq. But dare I say it, the BEST being in Affton.

Went once, shortly after they opened, and it seemed to be a clone of Bandanas - adequate, but not outstanding . . . . as always, an accurate review.

I order the pork sandwich on the regular basis at Boodles and never had even one piece be tough, always tastes delicious and tender as can be. sorry but this review is way off.

This review mostly summarizes my experience at Boodles BBQ. Mild smoke, ordinary sides, good biscuits. Kinda telling that the wrap-up paragraph touts the biscuits and not the barbeque. Many other much better spots for really good BBQ than this. Maybe if they keep the biscuits, choose a more smokey wood, and redid the recipes for the sides they might have something.

Your review of Boodle's was way off.... Best BBQ in Saint Louis. Never have I had a less than perfect meal there.
