In 1979 proto-crust pioneers Crass made a foreboding pronouncement with its end-times anthem "Punk Is Dead." And though some may agree, the torchbearing goof-punk Bass Amp & Dano continue in its attempt to wash away any remnants of that sentiment. With an allegiance to style and attitude, the band is able to bridge comedy and snot-nosed punk power by way of three-chord barnburners in less than two minutes. After years of evolving subgenres and changes to the rudimentary formula, it is bands such as this that remind us that punk rock is whatever you make of it.
