Architectural Evolution

Stand in your front yard or on the corner of a busy intersection downtown, and try to picture that same space as it was 200 years ago. It's not so easy without Google maps and satellite imagery on your side, but you can certainly try. Steve Nagle, the director of community planning for the East-West Gateway Council of Governments, wants to make that scene a little easier to envision, while shaping a perspective on how St. Louis developed into its contemporary self. Visions of Common Ground: Land Use Evolution in Metropolitan St. Louis will focus on the ebb and flow of the Lou and its urban development at 7 p.m. tonight. The presentation will be held at the Missouri History Museum's Lee Auditorium (Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue; 314-746-4599 or www.mohistory.org). Admission is free.
