Furry enthusiasts and audiophiles alike can find something to love in Britches, St. Louis' own purveyor of otherworldly rock. Elevated by the release of its recent EP Demonstration, Britches fills a niche in this city for creepy indie-rock songs bathed in static and hum. The three members' faces are concealed by hollowed out heads from life-size animal dolls. Singer Martin Reutter is a towering figure, releasing poignant bursts of shouting and moaning behind a wall of fragmented rhythms. The guitar riffs here are akin to a broken synthesizer being repeatedly slammed into a brick wall for the duration of the set. Britches pours these elements into a slurry of brilliant and luminous noise rock.
