Dan Savage gave countless teens hope -- and even saved a few lives -- with his It Gets Better Youtube campaign. For the past fifteen years, BandTogether has provided LGBT and straight-ally adults (aged eighteen to infinity) with a place where things are, in fact, better. In 1997 the group held its first rehearsal, creating a safe, relaxed space for music-making. Over the years the group has expanded greatly, and it's now a home away from home for dozens of area musicians, volunteers and color-guard members. BandTogether will celebrate its crystal anniversary with a special concert at 8 p.m. this Saturday, March 24, at the St. Louis Scottish Rite Cathedral (3633 Lindell Boulevard; 314-533-7410). Admission is free, but donations are always accepted and appreciated.
