Meet Mahabuba, left for dead at the edge of her Ethiopian village after an injury sustained during childbirth made her incontinent. She crawled 30 miles to a missionary hospital where she was cured and later trained to become a nurse. Mahabuba is just one of the inspiring women that author Sheryl WuDunn has met in the developing world, and she'll share the harrowing, hopeful tales of the third world's least utilized and most exploited resource during her keynote address at Saint Louis University (1 Grand Boulevard; 314-977-3975 or www.slu.edu) for its social justice-oriented Atlas Week. A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist turned author and business executive, WuDunn and her husband Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times have co-authored three books, including Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, which airs as a documentary series on PBS this fall. The free event takes place on Thursday, March 29, at 5:30 p.m. and is preceded by a book signing.
