Trash was never done so well. Playwright Tracy Letts' first play, Killer Joe, has been performed countless times in numerous countries since its Chicago debut in 1993. The quality of Letts' other work need not be insulted; Killer Joe is just that delicious. Chris Smith is a not at all nice young man who lives in a Texan trailer park with his father Ansel, his stepmother, Sharla and his sister Dottie. His mother, Adele, is the elusive subject of the play -- never seen, but definitely sought. Chris and Ansel cook up a rotten idea to cash in Adele's chips for her very sizable life insurance policy. The St. Louis Actors' Studio brings out its best Tennessee Williams drawl for tonight's opening performance at 8 p.m. at the Gaslight Theater (358 North Boyle Avenue). Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com.
