Muzik Without Borders

Sunday promises an evening of music at war and in harmony, when the players of Ethnic Muzik for Non-Existent Countries come together to perform as a united nation. Refined over years of experimentation, area improvisers Rich O'Donnell, Tory Z. Starbuck, Zimbabwe Nkenya and Deb Summers will draw upon their highly individualistic vocabularies to create a common language of spontaneous music, never to be spoken again. Poet K. Curtis Lyle will join the ensemble, lending his verbal somersaults to the mix. Ethnic Muzik takes place under the gaze of the HEARding Cats Collective at 8 p.m. this Sunday, May 20, in the William A. Kerr Foundation Building (21 O'Fallon Street; 314-436-3325). Tickets are $7 to $10. For more information, visit www.heardingcatscollective.org.
Sun., May 20, 8 p.m., 2012
