More About

Bask in the bard's beleaguered Othello under the stars at this season's premiere of Shakespeare Festival St. Louisin Forest Park. The tragedy of the play's namesake Venetian general unfolds after secret nuptials with sweet Desdemona incur ire from her father, Brabantio, and her admirer, Roderigo. The venomous Iago feeds off of tension and anger over the union, eventually manipulating the pair (and others) to punish Othello for promoting Michael Cassio to lieutenant -- a position Iago feels entitled to -- and for allegedly sleeping with his wife, Emilia. In his quest for vengeance Iago destroys the lives of many, including ill-fated antihero Othello. Take in the heartbreak in its original Middle English tonight at 8 p.m. Performances continue nightly (except Tuesday) through June 17; admission is free and open to the public.
Mondays, Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: May 25. Continues through June 17, 2012
