Amalgamating the perfect triad of live music, film and intellectual discussion, Washington University's Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum (One Brookings Drive, University City; 314-935-4523 or kemperartmuseum.wustl.edu) offers an evening of free fun for the general public with this month’s installation of Friday Nights at the Kemper. Patricia Olynyk, director of graduate studies at the Sam Fox School, will offer insight into the contemporary art scene at 7 p.m. when she leads a gallery talk on the Kemper's recently unveiled 2012 MFA Thesis Exhibition. As a special treat for the musically inclined, local indie songbirds Scarlet Tanager will hit the stage at 8:30 pm, ushering in the summer with its breezey songs of love and nostalgia. To polish off the evening, plant your lawn chair in the Kemper's parking lot for a screening of Terry Zwigoff’s cult film adaptation of Daniel Clowes' Art School Confidential at 10 p.m.
