Fill Your Glass

Beer is to St. Louis what a certain fizzy libation is to the Champagne province of France. It’s the cultural and commercial bedrock of our town, and it deserves to be honored and celebrated -- which is why the Saint Louis Brewers Heritage Festival opens its taps. The sudsy extravaganza returns for its sixth appearance, and this year's is bigger than ever: Attendees will be able to sample over 75 beers from more than fifteen local breweries. A $30 advance ticket ($35 the day of the event) includes commemorative glassware -- yours to keep -- that you’ll use to sample unlimited brewskis to your heart’s content. Along with a veritable ocean of the good carbonated stuff, you’ll also receive chats and education from our local brewers large and small, live music and gourmet food (but at extra charge for the latter). The festival kicks off today from 5 to 9 p.m. and continues all weekend at Ballpark Village (Broadway and Poplar Street) -- rain or shine -- under one massive tent.
