With the Shakespeare Festival St. Louis’ production of Othello drawing to a close on Sunday, Left Bank Books has set the stage for one last curtain call -- allowing Bard die-hards to assemble for some armchair analysis and expert discussion of the master’s work. This Tuesday the Shakespeare Festival reconvenes for a group reading of Nicole Galland’s I, Iago, a speculative back-story that introduces a few new angles to Othello’s egocentric antagonist. Iago himself, actor Justin Blanchard, will be on hand to discuss the character as written in Shakespeare’s original text, as well as Galland’s expanded take, which invents a moral motivation for Iago’s villainy. Shakespeare Festival Reads: I, Iago at 7 p.m. this Tuesday at Left Bank Books (399 Euclid Avenue; 314-367-6731). Admission is free and open to the public.
