Waste enough time on YouTube and you’ve no doubt seen fan-made edits of major motion pictures, trimming the fat and condensing the highlights into action-packed montages. This miracle of selective editing is not new to the Internet age, however -- in the ’70s, Super-8 film strips were released, shrinking the running time down to about fifteen minutes.
