Indulge in a three-course tasting menu paired with battling glasses of grape at the Sommelier Showdownon Thursday, August 2. Hosted by Copia Restaurant & Wine Garden (1122 Washington Avenue) at its downtown locale, and in partnership with Randall's Wines & Spirits, this tour de pours pits sommeliers Keith Herrick of A. Bommarito and Rudd Scholar Andrey Ivanov against one another in a three-round bout. Copia chef Dave Rook's menu will add an extra dimension to the competition, with dishes comprised of complex flavor combinations to challenge the wine professionals' pairings. The competition kicks off at 7 p.m., and courses include Asian-inspired, vegetable-based and, the finale, sea scallops with a jalapeno potato cake and sweet corn relish.
