Little Hills, Big Party

There are few things as satisfying as the authoritative clomp of horse hooves and high heels on an old-fashioaned cobblestone street. Enjoy the simple pleasure of a carriage ride, take a walk through the riverside park or simply absorb the rich history of Main Street while visiting myriad shops and restaurants this weekend with the Festival of the Little Hills. Kicking off at 4 p.m. on Friday, August 17, the festival continues through Sunday evening with musical performances, handmade crafts, food vendors and special events. Swing by Framations (2187 North Main Street, St. Charles; 636-724-8313) on Friday at 6 p.m. for the free opening reception of Rendezvous en France, an exhibition featuring new works from Serena Boschert, Mary Grellner, Jeanne Rohen and several other artists. For more information, including a full schedule of events, visit www.festivalofthelittlehills.com.
