Former Cardinals manager Tony La Russa has a new book out entitled One Last Strike: Fifty Years in Baseball, Ten and a Half Games Back, and One Final Championship Season; we'll give you one guess what's it about. Just kidding -- you know what it's about. It's the story of the man who was the American League's youngest-ever manager and his peaks and valleys while playing, managing and making five decades of baseball history. There may also be something in there about the 2011 Cardinals season. Left Bank Books Downtown (321 North Tenth Street; 314-436-3049 or www.left-bank.com) celebrates the launch of La Russa's book with an old-fashioned street party. Locust Street between 10th and 11th streets will be shut down from noon to 5 p.m. today so you can enjoy live music, food and beer from Bailey's Range and get your copy (or copies) of One Last Strike autographed by La Russa himself. Admission is by ticket purchase, and each ticket admits two adults and two kids plus gets you a copy of the book. Tickets cost $32.42 to $95.28, with the more expensive tickets getting you more copies of the book. For more details, visit www.left-bank.com/TONY.
