More About

November occupies a nebulous meteorological space: Not yet winter, but late enough in the fall that nicely crisp, picture-postcard days begin to morph into that downright cold, marauding beast -- the one with teeth. It's the blustering winds that provide the bite. Not to fear; let warming winds come to the rescue inside a beautiful, snug venue. Tonight at the acoustically pristine Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Boulevard; 314-533-9900 or www.sheldon.org), the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis presents November Winds. Works by Vivaldi, Rimsky-Korsakov, Saint-Saens and Mozart will be performed by a chamber sextet consisting of five wind instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon. The sixth piece of the group is piano, but it's always ill-advised to blow on or into a piano -- nothing will happen. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. concert are $35 and can be ordered by calling 314-941-6309 or visiting www.chambmusicstl.org.
