Christmas season is a blur but there's a way out of the commercial maze of madness. Some focused attention on the quieter, more traditional and less noisy aspects of the Yuletide will yield aesthetic pleasure and much-needed peace of mind. How about admiring some fine handmade Christmas greenery? On Thursday, November 22, the annual Holiday Wreath Auction begins at 9 a.m. in the upper level of the Ridgway Visitor Center at the Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard; 314-577-5100 or www.mobot.org), and we're all invited. The special holiday display consists of 15 custom wreaths conceived by some of our area's best floral designers; all of the wreaths will be sold by silent auction at the close of the exhibit and the resulting funds will go to benefit the garden. Your chance to view the wreaths is included with regular Mobot admission of $4 to $8, and the exhibit remains up through January 2, 2013.
