With Quentin Tarantino's new film Django Unchained coming to theaters this Christmas, select movie theaters around the country are joining together for a one-night, 20th anniversary celebration of the movie that set Quentin's wheels in motion, Reservoir Dogs. The director's 1992 debut hit Hollywood square in the puss and spawned a rash of "Tarantino-inspired" indie films, leaving an indelible mark on cinema. Tarantino himself was always one to wear his homages on his sleeve; Reservoir Dogs follows in the tradition of classic heist films like The Killing, Kansas City Confidential and The Asphalt Jungle, and boasts 1940s film noir heavy Lawrence Tierney as the ensemble cast's ringleader. Reservoir Dogs screens tonight at 7 p.m. at the AMC Esquire 7 (6706 Clayton Road, Richmond Heights; 314-781-3806) along with a retrospective feature on Tarantino's career and a selection of trailers from movies that inspired him.
