Blue-White-Red, the new exhibition at the Bruno David Gallery, inverts the familiar order (to American ears, at any rate) of this trio of colors, but not for any political reason or statement. Instead, the intent is to sever our ingrained reaction to the symbolism of the colors and refocus our attention on the connotations each hue carries. The participating artists (Yvette Dubinsky, Robert Pettus and Judy Pfaff among many others) were free to work with any or all of the trio in their preferred medium, exploring the qualities and meanings of blue, white or red as they saw fit. Blue-White-Red opens with a free public reception from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, November 30, at the Bruno David Gallery (3721 Washington Boulevard; 314-531-3030 or www.brunodavidgallery.com). The work remains up through Saturday, January 19, 2013, and the gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday.
Wednesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Nov. 30. Continues through Jan. 19, 2012
