More About

In 1949, ski instructor Warren Miller formed Warren Miller Entertainment and began producing and directing feature-length skiing films, then touring them to cities around the country. In doing so he single-handedly created the ski film as a genre, a legacy he cemented by directing and producing a feature length ski-action documentary each and every year until 2004, when he left the company in the hands of his son. The films keep coming at the rate of once a year, with Warren's moniker above the title, even though he no longer has any connection to the company that bears his name. This year's "Warren Miller" movie, Flow State, does the Miller brand proud, taking viewers around the world from Gridwood, Alaska, to Niseko, Japan, and capturing skiing's top athletes doing the impossible on impossibly large mountains. Flow State screens tonight at 7 p.m. at the Hi Pointe Theater (1005 McCausland Avenue). Tickets are $10 to $15, and available through the Alpine Shop's website, www.alpineshop.com.
