@SteveForbert Back in the 90s, I sold you a used record in Madison, Wisco. It's one of my favorite memories from that job.
Why should you care about Steve Forbert? Thirty years after "Romeo's Tune," he remains an unreconstructed folkie, bluesy, singer-songwriter, and the house concert circuit is filled with those. Would "because he still makes good records" be too obvious an answer? Perhaps, but it's the right response, as his 2012 album Over With You proves. Forbert yet has the hooks and rhythmic strut of a rockabilly cat, and his sweetly bitter Mississippi drawl still mainlines all the nostalgia of wrecked romance — his eternal theme — like the perfect pour of sour mash when you need it most.

Leave the Cam in Your Pocket: Once upon a time, this writer had the horrifying experience of trying to tape Forbert onstage. No bones were broken, but it was close.
