Maybe you need a break -- and who doesn't -- from all the dulling pressures of the daily grind compounded by the Christmastime-craziness factor that's upon us. Maybe you could benefit from an easy temporal refresher by swapping, for just a couple effortless, restorative hours anyway, this century for the 19th. Nothing could be easier. Just go to the Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard; 314-577-5100 or www.mobot.org) and enter the time-travel portal known as Victorian Christmas at Tower Grove House. On Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can tour Tower Grove House, the country residence of Garden founder -- and bona fide Englishman -- Henry Shaw, and enjoy seeing it decked out in authentic Victorian style. This slice of Yuletide Victoriana is open to the public through Sunday, December 30; admission is included with the purchase of a regular garden ticket ($3 to $8).
Wednesdays-Sundays; Dec. 26-30. Starts: Dec. 1. Continues through Dec. 24, 2012
