From the start, Moulin Rouge was the place to be -- the hot spot where the upper crust and lower class came together to get their kicks. The wealthy and the working class of Paris poured into the famed cabaret to witness the most extravagant shows of their time. It's in this spirit that Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet has mounted Moulin Rouge: The Ballet -- where the naughty, bawdy French cancan collides with the seductive grace of modern ballet. Dance St. Louis presents the Royal Winnipeg Ballet at 8 p.m. Friday and 2 and 8 p.m Saturday (January 25 and 26) at the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road; 314-534-6622 or www.dancestlouis.org). Tickets are $35 to $55.
