More About

Where We Can Read the Wind A remarkable testament to the power of producing visual art against all odds, this group exhibition organized by VSA Missouri highlights work by area artists with disabilities. Shannon Drew paints bright, quiltlike constellations of faces, shapes and line work that exude a sense of vibrant joy. David Kontra, who paints with only 5 percent of his vision, renders thickly textured and nearly neon-hued James Ensor-like landscapes and portraits that reproduce scenes from distant memories. Robert Cornman creates broad-sweeping, abstract canvases of undulating color that highlight the wavering marks of his brushwork, while Patrick Patterson photographs abandoned urban lots and desolate streets retreating in his car's rearview mirror. With additional sculptures, paintings and photographs by Dave Carter, Carol Fleming, Lynne Green and Jon Robinson, this is an exhibit of profound earnestness and emotional intensity that encourages us to reflect on and harness our own creative bravery Through March 9 at the Regional Arts Commission, 6128 Delmar Boulevard; 314-863-5811 or www.art-stl.com. Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Fri., noon-5 p.m. Sat.-Sun.
