Sara J. Henry's debut novel, Learning to Swim, introduced freelance reporter Troy Chance, an independent woman who captured a legion of fans with her tough spirit and warm heart. Chance returns in the sequel, A Cold and Lonely Place, which takes place during the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival in the Adirondack Mountains -- an event that becomes decidedly less festive when a man's body is found frozen in the ice. Chance pursues the story for the local paper, but it soon becomes clear that someone is trying to spike the story -- and her. Henry discusses and signs copies of A Cold and Lonely Place at 7 p.m. this evening at St. Louis County Library Headquarters (1640 South Lindbergh Boulevard, Frontenac; 314-994-3300 or www.slcl.org). Admission is free, and Left Bank Books will have copies of Henry's book for sale on site.
