No woman can be convicted of murder in Jazz Age Chicago -- at least that's what the accused murderesses in the hoosegow tell themselves. Velma Kelly is a cabaret star who's accused of killing her husband and her sister for having too intimate of a relationship. Roxy Hart is a show girl who killed her lover, but convinces her husband that the dead man was a burglar. Now Roxy and Velma are in the clink, sure to get off if they get the right lawyer. Enter Billy Flynn, attorney to all the great female celebrity murders, who takes on both women's cases. But if he uses all his tricks to free one of them, will he have anything left for the others defense? Kander & Ebb's Chicago is a dazzling fairy tale about the evils of murder, celebrity and lawyers. It plays at 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday (September 20 through 22) at the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1111 or www.fabulousfox.com), with John O'Hurley (Seinfeld's J. Peterman) as Billy Flynn and Paige Davis (host of Trading Spaces) as Roxy. Tickets are $30 to $80.
