Behind every man is a strong woman -- but only the strongest are portrayed by Madonna in the film version of their lives. Eva Peron was just such a woman. Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber crafted the true story of Argentina's famous first lady into the blockbuster musical Evita, which lauds Peron's compassion for the poor while also touching on her unbridled ambition. Caroline Bowman stars as the tragic heroine who lived and loved a lifetime in her 33 years, with Sean MacLaughlin as her dictatorial husband Juan in Evita at the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1111 or www.fabulousfox.com). Performances take place Tuesday through Sunday (October 8 through 20), and tickets are $25 to $85.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 8. Continues through Oct. 20, 2013
