In the Middle Ages, European maps depicted the world with Jerusalem at the center. The city was God's domain on Earth, a visible sign of His presence. That didn't save the city from being razed numerous times across the years, but it ensured that it would always be rebuilt. Jerusalem still stands as a powerful symbol for Christians, Jews and Muslims alike, each religion staking a claim on the city. This shared sense of inheritance is at the heart of the new National Geographic-produced IMAX film Jerusalem. What is it about this metropolis that calls to people, that draws them to its environs? Using the spectacular visual capabilities of IMAX projection, the filmmakers show you the living history of the city and the lives of its citizens, regardless of their individual religious affiliation or lack thereof. As spiritually important as the location itself is, it still serves as a home to all who live there. Jerusalem screens daily at the Saint Louis Science Center OMNIMAX (5050 Oakland Avenue; 314-289-4424 or www.slsc.org) through Thursday, May 22 (no screening on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day). Tickets are $8 to $9.
