Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap has been playing in London's West End for 61 years -- far outlasting her initial prediction that it would run for a respectable eight months. But why does it continue to draw an audience? It's your standard Christie mystery: The guests of a snowed-in English hotel learn that a murderer is among them, and a steady police detective arrives to crack the case. But there is something else at work here: genuine mystery. By tradition, the identity of the killer and how he/she is revealed is never disclosed by audiences or reviewers. So if you go you'll know, but you can't tell anyone else what you know. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis presents The Mousetrap every day except Tuesday through Sunday (December 4 through 23) and again Thursday through Sunday (December 26 through 29) on the Browning Mainstage at the Loretto-Hilton Center on Webster University's campus (130 Edgar Road; 314-968-4925 or www.repstl.org). Tickets are $20 to $81.
Tuesdays-Sundays; Dec. 26-29. Starts: Dec. 4. Continues through Dec. 23, 2013
