Winter is easily the best season, but there is a certain lack of color this time of the year. Gray skies, white snow, salt-encrusted cars -- it's all rather monochrome. If you're yearning to see some color, you're in luck. The Missouri Botanical Garden's orchid show is in full swing. Hundreds of vibrantly hued orchids are arrayed in a natural setting inspired by the work of Brazilian landscape artist Roberto Burle Marx. Stepping into the Orthwein Floral Display Hall is akin to entering a tropical enclave. Admission to the orchid show is $5, in addition to the regular garden admission of $4 to $8. The garden is located at 4344 Shaw Boulevard (314-577-5100 or www.mobot.org), and the show is open daily through Sunday, March 23.
