Falling for Hope

Deanna Jent's play about life with an autistic young adult, Falling, had a terrific run here in St. Louis, then went to Off Broadway and Los Angeles. Her honesty about the struggle, the doubt and the joy that families with autistic members encounter every day hit home with those who are "in the club" and opened a window for those on the outside. Mustard Seed Theatre reprises its original production of Falling this April, which will be professionally recorded for an educational DVD as part of the Mustard Seed Theatre Autism Education Project. Tonight, Broadway star Julia Murney performs a concert 7 p.m. at the Sheldon (3648 Washington Boulevard) to benefit the project. Murney played Elpheba in Wicked, and also played the role of Tami, the mother, in the New York version of Falling. Tickets to the show cost $25 to $40; VIP tickets cost $125, and include a post-show reception with the Murney and the original Mustard Seed cast.
