Willum Cubbert is an architect living in Terre Haute, Indiana, who plays landlord to his pals, Tansy (an aspiring meteorologist) and Axel (a sardonic drama critic). Willum needs to make a good impression on important client Mr. Waldgrave, so he hosts a dinner party. Things are progressing nicely until the arrival of Rick Steadman. Rick saved Willum's life in Vietnam, but Willum was unconscious at the time, so the two have never really met. Rick doesn't really come off as a war hero; he's a socially inept weirdo who likes insane party games and tambourine solos. It's bad enough having a guy like Rick at the dinner party, but when he announces his intentions to move in, hard decisions must be made. Is Willum up to it?
